COFFER
Inspired by a tree’s ability to house, protect, hide and reveal, the Coffer Box serves as a side table embodying these same characteristics in its structural architecture, hidden sliding compartments, revealing latched slots and lifting lids. It’s versatility in the spaces for storage engages the user to unconsciously overcome the tendency for clutter by creating a coordinated system for organization in a fun and mysterious way. The intention was to transform the “common” bedside table and make it “uncommon” by creating what appears to be a simple outer form that then reveals hidden compartments to store and protect bedside necessities.
